Nelson Sanchez, 24, became the first homicide of 2014. He was shot while sitting in the passenger seat of a car at Atwells Ave and Putnam St. Major David Lapatin said another car pulled alongside the vehicle and opened fire. He died shortly after at Rhode Island Hospital.
